Unbeaten Sid on
Rising Tides
Simon Bowater is a 26 year old welterweight from Birmingham, the orthodox fighter stands at 5 foot 9 and has won both of his 2 Professional fights, one by knock out. Known as Sid, had a great amateur career having 42 fights and winning 36 of the and also acquiring 2 Midlands area titles.
Sid trains out of Wodensborugh gym and is trained by his dad Ken Bowater.
I asked Sid who his favorite boxer was? He told me “There are to many to name, I like Roy
Jones, Bernard Hopkins and Mayweather they are some of the best technicians in the game, hit and not get hit”.
The best fight he has seen is either Corralles v Castillo or Naz v Kevin Kelly.
I then asked Sid what inspired him to box? Bowater informed me “my dad took me to Wolverhampton abc one night and I loved it and here I am now 15 year later as a pro”. Sid told me his hardest fight so far was a national semi final in Liverpool.
Sid is fighting on the 21st of October at the Holte suite Villa Park Aston on the Rising Tides show, I asked Sid how he thought the fight would go? He told me “I'm taking the fight the same as anybody else. Round by round get the rounds in but if I find openings I will take advantage and get in out of there and have a nice early night”.
Dexter’s Thoughts
Sid has 2 wins under his belt and is looking for his 3rd on the 21st October at Rising Tides at the Holte Suit, Villa park in Aston. With his great amateur career behind him and his great start to his pro career and with his father coaching him he could have a bright career in front of him. The Birmingham Boxing Column will be at Rising Tided to report on all the fights.
