The Holte Suite Villa Park was the setting for the Heavy Fire Show by TOP Promotions (18/03/17). Some of Birmingham's and the Midlands finest and newest boxers displayed there where's to a packed out crowd, the Birmingham Boxing Column was there as always to give you the run down on the show.
Fight 1
Drew Brown v Matthew Ashmore
Super Welterweight
4 x 3
Brown worked hard in the first round and got some cracking shots off putting together some great combinations with some good body shots. In the second Brown continued his good work with some cracking body shots, but Ashmore did rock Brown near the end of the round with some heavy over hand rights. The third round continued in the same vain with Brown controlling the action and dictating the pace, Ashmore continued to look for the overhand right which he had success with in the last round and he caught Brown again with it on several occasions, but Brown won the round. The forth and final round Brown kept up his good work and shot selection, Ashmore continued to throw the overhand right but Brown had now adapted to this and won the round with ease.

Kieron Conway v Kevin McCauley
Middleweight

Conway started well and got some heavy shots in from the start, McCauley took them well to see the round out. Conway got some good body shots off in the second and unloaded on McCauley who stood firm and saw the round out. The third round saw Conway put some great combinations together, McCauley started to taught him which just made Conway work harder. In the forth Conway continued his good work, McCauley looked tired and Conway took advantage of this but could not put him away.

Louis Fielding v Jack Summers
Super-Featherweight

Fielding who had dropped a weight division to take on Summers in this hard contested fight lost on points in a cracking bout of boxing.

Craig Cunningham v Anthony Fox
Middleweight
4x3
WBC International champ Craig Cunningham took on Anthony Fox in tick over 4 rounder to the delight of the Heavy Fire crowd. The Olympian slayer’s opponent had came to fight and make a name for himself. The bbcolumn's boxer of the year won this hard fought fight on points.

Matt Windle v Brett Fidoe
Super Flyweight

Both fighters were busy in the first round and got there shots off well in this very even round. Windle started the second round well and got some good shots off, Fidoe did catch him with a good shot right at the end of the round. The third was another good round for both fighters, but Windle won the round with the better shots. The forth saw Windle slow, Fidoe took advantage to win the round. The 5th round was very scrappy both boxers looked tired and there was a lot of holding. The sixth and final round saw Windle seem to get a second wind but Fidoe fought back well to see out the round.

Shakan Pitters v Remigijus Ziausy

Pitters who was making his debut took on
Remigijus Ziausy who was having his 100th professional bout of boxing against the young Eastside lad. Pitters put on a great display winning every round in front of a roaring crowd that had came to see him.

Tony Jones v Michael Mooney

Jones started well and looked strong with some good shots, The fight ended the fight in the second round when Mooney was cut and the ref and doctors deemed him unable to continue.

Dexter’s Thoughts
Tommy Owen Promotions have done it again with another great show, with some of Birmingham's best and newest talent on display. With Brown, Conway and Summers getting good wins and Shakan Pitters winning well on his debut against a tough veteran of 100 fights,that alone would of made this a great show. With the added addition of WBC International champ Craig Cunningham fighting on the show it was a great night for Birmingham boxing. After chatting to Craig after his fight he stated he is looking to fight for the British title sometime this year either at Middleweight or light Middleweight. After all Cunningham achived last year in boxing he really does deserve a shot at a Lonsdale belt, I just hope politics don't get in his way.
