Five massive shows in April & May
Tommy Owens Promotions, Mack The Knife Birmingham and Black Country Boxing promotions have raised the bar putting on 5 cracking shows over the next 2 months.
The first show is a joint promotion of MTK and TOP joining forces to hold “Friday The 13th” at the Holiday Inn Soilhull. The show will be headlined by Bbcolumn's boxer to watch James Beech Jr who will be going for his first title the Super Bantamweight British Challenge Belt. The show will be on surprise, surprise Friday 13th April and has a tasty undercard with MTK's Anthony Manning, Aaron Lovell and Michelle Redmond fighting.
Tickets are £40 standard and £60 VIP table. This is going to be a great show and I will be looking forward to Beech doing the business and winning his first title.
The second show is another title fight main event with BcB promotions holding there show “Time To Shine” at Walsall town hall. The main event will be the talented Ricky Summers fighting for the vacant IBO Continental light heavyweight title. As undercards go the BcB have a packed one with IBO Continental super middleweight champion and Bbcolumn's boxer of the year Lennox Clarke fighting, they also have the very talented polish fighter Damian Kiwor making his second appearance in a pro ring. Also on the show we have Bantamweight Leon Gowen from Burton, Derby’s welterweight Sajid Abid and Dudley lad Ryan Aston. This is set to be another great night of boxing and could see the midlands get another IBO champion.
Kicking off May we have a bumper weekend of boxing with BcB and TOP having shows on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th respectively. The first is the Black Country Boxing show “On Neutral Ground” on Friday 4th May at Walsall town hall. The main event is a mouth-watering British middleweight title fight against current holder Tommy Langford and Black Country Boxing’s Jason Welborn. The fight has been nicknamed “Battle of the Baggies” as both are West Bromwich Albion fans and I am anticipating a packed out venue. With a fantastic undercard which includes Midlands champ Tyler Denny and BcB's female hot prospect featherweight Rachel Ball. Also on the card super lightweight Kane Baker, bantamweight Ijaz Ahimed, super welterweight Ross Hollis, Heavyweight Dave Allen and Tommy Langford's stable mate super middleweight Shaka Thompson. This is yet another massive show with a British title on the line, tickets are £50 standard and Ringside VIP £150.
On Saturday 5th May we go to Villa Parks Holte Suite for another great Tommy Owens Promotions show “The Lone Wolf” where the Super featherweight Midlands area title will be contested for between Indi Sangha and Paul Holt with some of Birmingham and the Midlands finest up and coming boxers featured on the undercard. On the undercard at the moment are unbeaten Jack “No Beef” O’Keeffe and Sean Daly, also on the bill will be Lenny Evens, Matt Windle and one of my old sparring partners Nathan Stevens. They will also be showing the Haye v Bellew fight on the big screens after the show.
To finish off this bumper packed two months of boxing we stay at Villa park for yet another Tommy Owens Promotions. On the 19th of May, the highly rated Ryan Kelly will have his second crack at capturing the super welterweight Midlands area title and intends to make no mistakes as he becomes champion. The show is called “By The Sword” with Kelly’s fight being the main event and his opponents yet to be named, this show also has a great undercard with some great talent on it. At the moment on the bill we have unbeaten Bbcolumn’s boxer to watch Shakan Pitters, the talented Tommy Silcox and Shaun Cooper, also hot prospects Ellis Blake, Clayton Brichhall and Nathan Mcfarlane. What a truly great end to two great two months of boxing in Birmingham and the Black Country. Tickets for the Tommy Owens Promotions shows are £35 standard £50 Balcony with buffet and £65 VIP Ringside with table service and a two course meal.
Dexter’s Thoughts
What a great time to be around Midlands boxing with some unbelievable shows being put on by the big 3 boxing promotions. Starting with one of the Bbcolumn’s boxers to watch James Beech going for his first title, I have followed this young mans career and can honestly say I can see a Midlands title shot in the near future.
We then go to one of my favorite places to watch boxing Walsall town hall where Ricky Summers goes for the IBO light heavyweight Continental title, two great shows in April. As for May we start with Tommy Langford putting his British title on the line against Jason Welborn at Walsall town hall, this is going to be one hell of a night of boxing with a great undercard.
Then we are at Villa park for two more shows with two Midland Area titles on the line. Indi Sangha v Paul Holt for the super featherweight Midlands area title is one I have been looking forward to. Sangha and Holt met in a 6 rounder last year where Indi won on points. Sangha impressed a lot of people including myself that night and looked on another level when he stopped Louis Fielding to get this shot late last year. In there first fight I had Sangha winning but seemed to have it a lot closer than most, also Holt showed off his talents by beating Luke Jones to get his shot at the vacant Midlands title.
Then last but by no means least “Ruthless” Ryan Kelly gets his shot at the super welterweight Midlands area title. He was meant to be fighting Kelcie Ball for the vacant title which was a highly anticipated match up. His opponent has yet to be named but with there being a mass of Midlands super welterweights out there at this level who ever he fights it will be competitive.
