Fields steps in for second Midlands Title

Cogan's Corners ‘0 Taker’ Ben Fields has accepted a short notice fight against the very tough and talented Eastside fighter Kaisee Benjamin. Benjamin (25) was meant to be fighting BcB's Conah Walker in a highly anticipated contest Live on Channel 5 for the Welterweight Midlands area title but Walker has had to pull out due to injury. Fields (31) and his team took no time to accept the challenge of moving up a weight to contest for his second Midlands title.

Fields was crowned Midlands super lightweight champion in September of this year after beating Alex Fearon on points in a very impressive victory. Benjamin has also faced Fearon stopping him in the seventh round when he won the Midlands Welterweight area title in September of 2018. The fight will still be Live on Channel 5 on Saturday, November 14th on the undercard of the Pitters v Richards British title fight. This has the makings of a cracking fight with two of Birmingham’s finest going at it for the millions that will be watching live on channel 5.

Dexter’s Thoughts

What a fight this is going to be, two of my favorite fighters testing their skill and will against each other. Now on paper, this looks like an easy fight for Benjamin who has a record of 10 wins 1 draw, and 1 defeat but I know Kaisee and his team will know Fields will be bringing the smoke. If you know Ben's story you know what this inspirational fighter has been though, he may have a more even record with 10 wins 2 draws, and 8 defeats but his record doesn’t emulate his will and determination. All 8 of his defeats were on the road and he has beaten 7 unbeaten fighters which is where the ‘0 Taker' nickname came from.

This is a hard match to call, but you have to say Benjamin has the edge as Fields has to move up a weight. What I can say is that if Fields shows the same determination and will he showed against Fearon Benjamin is in for a very hard night. The Column is really looking forward to this title fight.
