Dexter Hastings
Hi I'm Dexter Hastings head writer for the BBColumn, I have been around boxing for the last 39 years first training as a young pup at the Holte pub gym under the tutelage of Paddy Martin then following Paddy to the Rose & Crown Pub in Erdington which has been the home of Paddy's gym for the placed 30 plus years.

I now train young and old people at Paddy's gym in the noble art of boxing which is one of my main passions as I enjoy seeing them improve introducing confidence, respect and discipline into there lives.
I have also put the gloves on myself as an unlicensed boxer having 23 fights winning 14 losing 8 and drawing 1 so I have been through it all. in my 23 fights, I have managed to win 3 West midlands titles with the now-disbanded Celtic Boxing Union. I have won the Heavyweight and Cruiserweight Birmingham and West Midlands titles and also the North Birmingham Cruiserweight title. In my later years, I came back and won another 3 Titles beating rival Malcolm Stowe for the Showdown Senor title and then at the grand old age of 46 beating a 29-year-old champ in Damion Gardener for the Midlands Semi-professional boxing federation heavyweight title. I also won a bbcolumn Catchweight title against 29-year-old Josh Hodgins.
I have also written 3 books all about boxing, the first one was a biography all about my journey in unlicensed boxing with all its ups and downs. The second one was a Novel called Fear No Foe and the third is called Tales of the Squared Circle a selection of short stories about boxing
