Title hopeful Louis Fielding
Louis Fielding is a 26 year old super featherweight pro boxer from Tamworth. Known as the “Flash” Louis has had over 40 amateur contests and has won the Midlands area title 5 times, been a quarter finalist of the ABA’s losing on points and he also made the CYP national finals against Billy Morgan.
Louis has been a pro for 2 years and has had 8 bouts winning 6 (1 by knockout) he inform me he is hoping to get a crack at a challenge title fight leading to a Midlands area super featherweight title fight. I can now reveal that Louis has been given a shot at the vacant super featherweight Midlands area title against Paul Holt. Louis is trained by Karl Williams and has boxed out of Tamworth boxing club since he was 11.
Louis told me his hardest fight was an amateur fight against Josh Warrington in national quarter finals.
I then asked Louis about his pending fight against Paul Holt on September 24th for the for
the vacant Midlands super featherweight title, he said “Yeah I was over the moon with the opportunity coming up. Me and my team firmly believe we have the skill to beat Holt and look forward to the night”.
After talking Louis I had to ask Paul Holt the same question, he informed me “Yeah I was obviously buzzing about it, I’d had a shot for the featherweight title and done really well with 10 days notice. Didn't get the decision but went the distance, this time round I’ve had more than enough notice at a healthier weight. I know it's going to be a great fight and I know Louis is going to give it his all. I'm grateful that I’ve been given another chance and I don't intend on letting this one slip”.
Dexter’s Thoughts
Louis has got a good amateur career behind him and has had a good start to his pro career and has now got a title shot. Him and his team are confident that he can win, but so does Paul. I can see this being a cracking fight, both boxers are young and hungry to get that first pro title round there waist and move up the ranks. I couldn't give you a prediction as I haven't seen enough of these boxers to have a informed opinion.
The pair will lock horns at the top of Black Country Boxing’s ‘High Stakes’ show, sponsored by Grosvenor Casino Walsall, at Walsall Town Hall on Saturday, 24th September.
The Birmingham boxing column hopes to be there to give you a full report on the whole show.
