The Savage Returns

The Savage Returns

February 2nd of 2019 will see Tommy Owens promotions team up with Matchroom boxing to hold “The Return of the Savage”. Bbcolumn’s Hall of Famer Sam Eggington returns to the squared circle after his shock defeat on the Amir Kahn undercard earlier this year. The Birmingham arena was stunned when world class Eggington was stopped in the second round by Hassan Mwakinyo who caught Eggington with a number of heavy unanswered shots with the ref having to step in and stop the match.

This defeat put Eggington's career on hold as Matchroom had him already penciled him in on the undercard of the Anthony Joshua bill a few months later. Eggington and his Eastside team will have been working hard to right any of the mistakes “The Savage” made last time and I’m sure Sam will have the Holte Suite Villa Park rocking as this was where he won his Midlands area title earlier in his career. Eggington’s last victory came at the Holte Suite Villa Park when he beat Peter Kramer in a 4th round stoppage winning the IBO Super Welterweight continental title in the summer of this year.

If seeing Eggington on a small hall show was not enough for you to want to come, there is also a packed out undercard. On the undercard you have the former Muai Thai fighter turned boxer Nathan Bendon having his second fight as a pro, the talented Mohammed Waqas and Anthony Manning will be trying to continue in there winning ways. Hard hitting Welterweight Midlands area champ Kaisee Benjamin will be in action and also the unbeaten and one of the Birmingham Boxers to Watch Shaun Cooper. Also on the bill is the veteran journey man Lewis Van Pooch who will be looking for a win as he has his 100th fight of his pro career. Final we will see the return of cruiserweight boxer Matt Sen, “The Slugger” was handed his first defeat at the start of November at the Holte Suite in a first round stoppage by Taha Mirhosseini. There is a possibility of this fight being a rematch between Mirhosseini and Matt will be looking to set the record straight and get a win.

This Tommy Owens promotions/ Matchroom boxing is set to be a great night of professional boxing and a great start to the new year. Tickets are on sale from the fighters or at TOP.com with standard costing £35, balcony VIP £50 and ringside Dunner £65. Column The Birmingham Boxing will be there to report on all the action at this fantastic show.
