Ball Back in Training
Smoking Joe’s Kelcie Ball has made his long awaited returned to the gym after having a break from the noble art after his first defeat. Ball was stopped in the first round when he took on super welterweight Midlands area champ Ryan Kelly live on sky sports in October of last year for his title. This fight was tipped to be a 50/50 fight with unbeaten Ball looking for his first proper title, the talented Kelly caught Ball midway through the first round with a cracking shot that hurt Ball and never let him off the hook with the ref jumping in and stopping the fight.
I got to talk on Kelcie after his first training session at Smoking Joe’s since the fight, I ask him how he was feeling now and when did he think he would see him back in the ring? Ball told me “it felt great to be back at the gym and I have now put that defeat behind me, at the moment I am just looking to get my fitness back and be ring ready”. I then asked him when will we see him back in the ring? Ball replied by saying “if all goes well I’m hoping to be back in the ring around May time and move my way back up the ranks and into title contention”.
Dexter’s Thoughts
It was great seeing Kelcie back at Smoking Joe’s this week and for someone who has had so much time off from the gym he looked in pretty good condition. Kelcie is now just looking to get back to being ring fit and I’m sure he will be very soon, he has said he has put that defeat behind him and I’m sure he will be fighting for titles again very soon. I look forward to seeing him back in the ring very soon.
