Big Fight News For Eggington

Big Fight News For Eggington

Eastside gyms Sam Eggington has accepted a big fight that will take him back up the ranks and back into world title contention at super welterweight. Sam who is already set to be fighting on a small hall show at Villa park on Saturday February 2nd has now been offered a big time fight against Liam Smith on Saturday 30th March at the M&S arena Liverpool. Eggington is looking to climb back up the rankings by traveling to Liverpool and claiming a big win live on Sky sports against one of the top super welterweights in Britain and the World. Smith (30) has a impressive record of 26 wins in 29 fights but is coming off a defeat when he lost on points to Jaime Munguia when he challenged for the WBO super welterweight world title.

Eggington (25) has just as an impressive record winning 23 out of 28 fights, the Savage is also coming off a defeat when he was stopped in a shock lost to Hassan Mwakinyo at the Birmingham arena last year. This will give both fighters a big boost up the world rankings who ever wins, I managed to catch up with Eggington and asked him a few questions about his up and coming fights. I asked him, will he still be fighting on the Tommy Owens promotions/Matchroom show on February 2nd? He told me “I’m trying to sort a few things out for February so I’m not ruling it out”. I then asked the Savage how he felt when he got the news? Sam said “ I’m buzzing to get the fight after my last fight, I don’t deserve such a fight but it’s my chance to put that last fight to bed and I’m going to do all in my power to do that”. My final question for Eggington was is there a title on the line for this fight? Sam said “No news on titles at the moment, as for rounds I presuming it will be a 12 rounder”.

Dexter’s Thoughts

This is a big big fight for Sam and could propel him back into world title contention a lot quicker than he thought. Eggington is putting it all on the line against a top flight opponent and in true Eastside style is going on the road to Smith’s back yard to do it. Fingers crossed Sam Fights on the second of February and I can then see him beating Smith and challenging for a world title this year.
