Birmingham's fight fan with a license Kane Baker (30) has been given the date for his fight against the unbeaten Aqib Fiaz (5=0). Fiaz (20) and Baker were meant to fight on Matchroom's Fight camp 2 show in August but Fiaz pulled out at very short notice with an illness that he was taken to hospital for. Because of this Baker could not fight on the live show on Sky sports which upset this inspirational fighter who had just spent 5 days in isolation for that fight. Baker had a go at Fiaz while being in the Matchroom bubble after being told Fiaz wouldn't make weight and ended up offering him a chocolate bar and calling him a "Fat Fuck", it was sometime after this Fiaz became ill. Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn has kept his word to Kane and has managed to reschedule the fight for the undercard of the Buatsi, Calic fight on Sunday 4th of October live on Sky Sports.
Dexter’s Thoughts
This is a great opportunity for Kane to show off his skills on a big stage live on Sky Sports. He is a likable character who says he is just a boxing fan with a license but he is so much more than that. He has fought some of the best prospects on the big stage and has taken these fights at short notice, his have gloves will travel mentality has had him travel the world making stores and great memories. Even with this mentality his record is impressive winning 13 out of his 19 fights and picking up the Midlands lightweight title and fighting for the English title at the same weight. Fiaz best victory to date is when he beat one of the Bbcolumn’s favorites Ben Fields in a very close 4 rounder which a lot of people thought was a draw or even a Fields win. This is definitely a fight Baker can win and if it is over 6 or more I have no doubts he will be victorious.
The Birmingham Boxing Colum will be looking to get Kane on Welcome to Fightden before this fight.
