Ball Excited By BT Bow

BCB’s Danny Ball is looking forward to making his Queensberry Promotions debut live on BT Sport later this month writes Rob Wassell. The Kingswinford welterweight defends his WBC International Silver Title against unbeaten prospect Sam Gilley on 26th March. The Londoner boasts an 11-0 record with several impressive performances to his name, which Ball is very much aware of.

However, he is confident in his own ability and wants to prove himself on the big stage. “My sponsors have allowed me to get the time off this time around which has been different to other camps,” he explained to bcb-promotions.com. “I really think that will help when it comes to keeping my belt. It’s a ten round fight so that rest time will benefit me a lot."

The 24 year-old is also unbeaten – 9-0-1 and has got to the big stage the hard way. Last time out he defeated the fancied Mason Cartwright, who at the time held a 15-1 record, to lift the WBC belt and his fight prior was against the then Midlands Area Champion, Kaisee Benjamin, which was scored a draw, the only slight blemish on Ball’s perfect career to date.

“I have a great team around me which is very important,” he added. “They believe in me and so do I. I know Richie Ghent (trainer) and my team wouldn’t put me in if they didn’t have faith in me and my ability.“Once we get through this one hopefully that pushes me up the rankings. I really want to progress and if anyone in the top 10 comes knocking we won’t hesitate to answer their call.”

You can watch Ball vs Gilley on BT sports on the undercard of Akeem Ennis-Brown vs Sam Maxwell’s super lightweight clash, where fellow Midlander Brad Foster is also in action fighting for the vacant IBF International Super Bantamweight strap.
