Berry Dominants At The Skydome

Super Bantamweight Nyall Berry put on a dominant performance on the BGM promotions show at the Skydome Coventry (9.3.24). The twenty-four-year-old from Chelmsley Wood Birmingham took on Mexican Hector Garcia Dolores (24) in a eight-round featherweight contest. Berry came into the fight unbeaten in nine competitions with his opponent winning eight of his sixteen fights with five coming by way of stoppage. Berry weighed in eight stone thirteen with Dolores came in nine stone four with Chris Dean reffing.

Berry came out aggressive from the first bell letting nice jabs go and landing cracking combinations to the head and body, Dolores fought back hard but this was Berry’s round. Berry started the second strong banging in great combinations as he pushed Dolores to the ropes, Dolores continued to fight back hard but Berry dominated the round. Dolores landed some good shots in the third to keep the fight competitive but Berry was relentless as he landed some heavy combinations it looked like he had broken Dolores's ribs, Dolores stood strong and took a lot of punishment to see the round out. Dolores showed his toughness as Berry continued to land heavy combinations as he broke him down with another dominating round for Berry.

Credit to Dolores as he stuck in there and continued to land shots in the fifth on the relentless Berry who landed heavy body shots and great combinations to win the round. Berry picked up the pace in the sixth and somehow let even more combinations go with some evil body shots with relentless pressure. Berry continued to press and push Dolores back in the seventh round who was now just looking to see the final bell. Berry finished the final round strong continuing his high pace and landing great combinations winning the round and the fight.

Ref Chris Dean scored the contest 78 to 74 Berry I had it 80 to 72 Berry.

Dexter’s Thoughts

What a great performance by Berry in my opinion he dominated the contest and didn’t lose a round. Dolores has to get a lot of credit as he fought hard every round and looked hurt in the third but managed to give Berry a competitive fight. Berry is now ten without defeat and has to be now looking at fighting for a title shot. Myself I think Berry has gone beyond Midland’s area titles and I can see him contesting for the English or even the British title next. Berry is a very talented boxer and I can see him going all the way to world honours, I look forward to see him fight again very soon.
