Four Without Defeat For Bethell

Twenty-two-year-old Brandon Bethell took his professional boxing record to four without defeat on the Black Country Promotions show ‘Pride of the Black Country’ held on 21.06.24). The Wolverhampton fighter was taking on Jayro Fernando Duran (32) from Honduras in a six-round contest at the Hangar Venue Wolverhampton. This was part of a night of a five-fight card with Bethell weighing in nine stone six with Duran coming in nine stone eight in this lightweight competition with Pete McCormick reffing.

With a massive following cheering him om Bethell started fast landing great combinations with loads of body shots being landed on Duran as he tried to get off a shot. Duran had no answer in the second as Bethell continued to go head and body well with the body shots looking like they were doing some damage but somehow Duran took them well and stood strong. Duran had a goback in the third which just gave Bethell more chance to land some evil body shots, how Duran took them showed his durability.

As Bethell’s followers continued to cheer him on the Wolverhampton fighter continued to land great combinations banging in body shot after body shot with Duran somehow absorbing them and seeing the round out. The pace slowed in the fifth with Duran having joy landing some good shots, Bethell continued to show great movement and shot-picking just edging the round. Good competitive start to the final round as Duran looked to exchange shots with Bethell, this was the close round of the fight but would have to give it to Bethell with the more eye-catching shots.

Ref Pete McCormick scored the fight 59 to 55 Bethell, I had it 60 to 54 Bethell.

Dexter’s Thoughts

Great performance by Bethell who had a massive following cheering him on at the Hangar in Wolverhampton. He has taken his record to four without and showcased some great body shots and some good movement, you have to give his opponent Duran some credit as he took some nasty body shots and still continued to make the fight competitive. I can see Bethell having a great boxing career and with his big following I don’t think it will be too long before he is fighting on one of the bigger shows.
