O’Toole Make's It Two Without Defeat

Updated: Oct 23, 2023

Super featherweight Sian O’Toole made it two out of two with her second victory as a professional boxer on the undercard of Ahmed v Braithwaite contest. The contest was held at the Holiday Inn Birmingham and as in her first fight O’Toole brought a massive following with her. O’Toole from Droitwich was taking on thirty-four-year-old Polish Karina Szmalenberg who has entered the ring Sixty-seven times. The contest was over six two-minute rounds in the super Featherweight with O’Toole weighing in nine stone four and Szmalenberg coming in nine stone eight with Ryan Churchill reffing.

Fast start by O’Toole who let her hands go controlling the round, Szmalenberg asked questions with some great shots but O’Toole got the better shots off to win the round. O’Toole worked the body well in the second but continued to ask questions but Sian had the answers with some great combinations and out working the Pole. Scrappy third round with lots of holding, Szmalenberg got some good off and O’Toole responded well banging in some good shots of her own to edge the round.

Competitive fourth round with Szmalenberg still pressing O’Toole who continued to control the contests winning the round with a high tempo work rate, Szmalenberg had sustained a cut above her left eye. Scrappy fifth with Szmalenberg trying to turn it into a brawl, O’Toole kept her composure boxing well when she could and winning the round.  Blood poured from Szmalenberg head as O’Toole boxed well in the final round controlling the pace and winning the round and the fight.

O’Toole Wins Contest 60 to 54 I had it the same.

Dexter’s Thoughts

Great performance by O’Toole against a very tough opponent who came to ask some questions. O’Toole showed great composure and control as she was pressed for six rounds with Szmalenberg really making her work. I was impressed with O’Toole from her first fight but was even more impressed in this one as she seemed to enjoy the pressure Szmalenberg put on her and let some fantastic shots off winning every round. With her great following and the boxing skills she processes I can only see her moving on to big TV promotions and big titles in her future. Sian O’Toole is definitely one to watch and I look forward to fight number three very soon.
