Birmingham’s Shakan Pitters has had to reschedule his first title defence against mandatory challenger Craig Richards. The fight for Pitters British Light Heavyweight title was set to be held on Saturday 14th of November but due to a injury sustained by Pitters and under the advisement of doctors the fight and the show has been rescheduled. The fight which is promoted by Hennessy sports and will be aired Live and free on channel 5 will now be on Friday 18th of December. Also moved to this date on the undercard is the highly anticipated Midlands Welterweight title fight between the hard hitting Kaisee Benjamin and the ‘0 Taker' Ben Fields. Fields who has stepped in to this fight after Conah Walker had to pull out with injury will now be able to have a longer camp and prepare himself for this tough fight. This is set to be great show and well wo4th the wait.
Dexter's Thoughts
I was gutted when I heard the news about Shakan’s injury as I know him and his team want to win the British title outright as soon as possible. Thankfully it has only been put back a month and I still can’t see the verdict changing as I see Pitters winning in good fashion in December. In my opinion Shakan is destined for bigger titles and I look forward to seeing the Eastside fighter win more titles in the near future.
I’m also very excited about the undercard fight between Kaisee Benjamin and Ben Fields, Benjamin was meant to be fighting Conah Walker which was going to be a cracking fight, but after Walker pulled out and Fields stepped in this fight took on a whole new look. Benjamin will be the odds on favourite for this fight as Fields is moving up a weight to take on the former Midlands champ. But Fields who is known as the ‘0 Taker' has just won the super Lightweight Midlands title and will be looking to add the Welterweight title to his collection. This fight has the potential to be a great advertisement for Birmingham boxing as the two Brummie’s go at it. I a really looking forward to this show.
