Spider Showcases His Talent in Second Win

Ibraheem Sulaimaan known as ‘Spider’ showcased his boxing talents in the second fight of his professional career winning on points in this four-round contest. Spider had been put on the undercard of the Matchroom show which was being held at Wembley Arena London (30.09.23) and was being streamed live on DAZN. Spider won his first contest in his hometown of Birmingham on the Matchroom show just six weeks ago stopping Germany Michel Gonxhe in the first round. The switch-hitting twenty-two-year Spider was taking on a durable fighter from Colombia Joshua Ocampo  (29). Sulaimaan weighed in nine stone nine with Ocampo coming in nine stone nine in this super lightweight contest with Bob Williams reffing.

Spider started steadily picking some eye-catching head and body shots from the first bell, Ocampo could do nothing but cover up as Spider showcased fast hurtful combinations which included some evil body shots. Spider started the second fast letting shots go but was warned by the ref for using his elbow, Spider then landed a barrage of shots with Ocampo covering up and looking to hold which he managed to which saved him from being dropped. When the ref broke them Ocampo went on the run and stayed out of the way to see the round out. In the third Spider continued to hunt Ocampo down as he was now in full survival mode, Spider targeted the body of Ocampo well then switched it up to the head well with some eye-catching uppercuts. Spider continued to press in the final round taking his time and landing some eye-catching uppercuts and picking fantastic shots and combinations, Ocampo just tried to stay safe and covered up well to hear the final bell.

Ref Bob William scored it 40 to 36 Sulaimaan, I had it the same.

Dexter’s Thoughts

What a performance by Spider, he showcased his talent and showed a variety of shots that you may see from a seasoned professional. In his first fight, we didn’t really get to see the young fighter’s skills as he stopped his opponent early but in this one, we got to see him talented the Birmingham boy is. Ocampo has always been renowned for being durable and he needed to be as Sulaimaan hit him with some evil body shots and the uppercuts that landed would have stopped a lot of fighters. I don’t think it’s a bad thing that Spider completed the four rounds as now he knows he can do them at a high pace. He is definitely a boxer to watch out for and with his talent and his positive attitude, you can only see titles in his career. Spider is one of a multitude of lightweight hot prospects coming out of Birmingham at the moment with the likes of Dylan Nornan, Niall Farrell, Mykey Lee Broughton, and the current Midlands area champ Scott Melvin to name but a few. This is an exciting time to be a lightweight in Birmingham and I think we have at least two world champions in the prospects coming out of Brum. I look forward to watching Ibraheem Sulaimaan progress in his career.
