Stopage Win For Taylor

Birmingham’s Omarah Taylor took her professional record to two wins undefeated getting a fifth-round stoppage at Bescot Stadium Walsall (26.04!24). The thirty-year-old Super Welterweight was taking on Marija Zivkovic (38) from Serbia in a six two-minute roundround contesthe Middleweight division at the BcB Promotions show (Powar Move). Taylor weighed in eleven stone three with Zivkovic coming in ten stone thirteen with Pete McCormick reffing.

Good start by Taylor who banged in some cracking combinations from the first bell to the final bell in a dominant round. Taylor landed some heavy combinations in the second and was in full control picking nice shots in another dominant round. Taylor stepped it up in the third landing more heavy shots moving Zivkovic from one rope to another as the Serb had no answer for Taylors onslaught.

The beat down continued in the fourth as Taylor did what she liked picking nice shots and combination after combination. The onslaught continued in the fifth as Taylor continued to unleash some heavy combinations, ref Pete McCormick eventually jumped in and stopped the contest one minute forty-two seconds into the fifth.

Dexter’s Thoughts

Great performance by Taylor in only her second professional contest as she showcased her power and skills in a fight she dominated. Taylor worked well banging in heavy shots to the body and head in some great combinations. Taylor showed her aggression as she landed power shot after power shots and you could see she was looking for the stoppage. I think that the fight could have been stopped in the third to save Zivkovic anymore punishment but fair play to her for hanging in there. As a female fighter you can see Taylor moving up the ranks quickly and has the potential to follow the likes of Kirsty Bavington and Rachel Ball on to TV promotions. Taylor still has to really prove thus but with this win I think she is well on her way.
