Tommy Owens Promotions held their first show of October at the Sports Connexion Coventry (14,10,23). The show consisted of six contests with the main event being a Super featherweight English Eliminator between Leamington spas Danny Quartermaine taking on Jack Hiller in a ten-round contest. The undercard consisted of one six-rounder and four, four-round fights with Ashlee Eales doing the six, and Dylan Cheema, Danny Costello, Callum Singh, and Minaaz Gurung doing the fours all in the home corner. Unfortunately, the Column was not at the event due to work commitments but here are the results and facts about the fights.

Nuneaton’s Minaaz Gurung made his debut on the show taking on Lee Hellett in a super lightweight contest. Ryan Churchill reffed the contest which went the full four rounds with Gurung winning 40 to 37 against a very tricky southpaw.

Twenty-one-year-old Callum Singh took his record to three without defeat when he took on Sean Jackson in a Bantamweight contest. Singh won all four rounds with the ref scoring it 40 to 36 against the twenty-seven-year-old Jackson who was having his nineteenth fight.

Danny Costello returned to winning ways notching up his third victory in four professional fights. Twenty-three-year-old southpaw Costello from Nuneaton won every round against veteran Journeyman MJ Hall winning 40 to 36 in this Welterweight contest.

Twenty-seven-year-old Dylan Cheema made a victorious return to Coventry taking on Nicaraguan Brayan Mairena who was having his forty-ninth fight. Cheema from Coventry won the super lightweight contest 40 to 36 taking his record to nine wins out of ten fights.

The talented unbeaten twenty-nine-year-old Ashlee Eales took his record to nine without defeat when he took on Southampton’s Vasif Mamedov in a six-round contest. The Nuneaton fighter won every round winning the contest 60 to 54 with the super welterweight looking at contesting for titles.

In the main event, Leamington Spa’s Danny Quartermaine secured a shot at the English Super Featherweight title after stopping Jack Hillier in the eliminator fight. The fight ended in the sixth round after an accidental clash of heads caused a cut above Hilliers left eye with the fight being stopped on the doctors’ advice.
