Galal Yafai notched up his four victory with a fourth-round stoppage of the Mexican Moises Callros on the undercard of the Joshua against Franklin show (1.4.23). The Matchroom show was being steamed live on DAZN from the O2 arena in London. Thirty-year-old Yafai who had been taken the ten-round distance in his last fight was in no mood to waste time as he silenced his doubters with this stoppage. Calleros (33) had a record of 36 wins with one draw out of 47 contests with 19 knockouts to his name. The fight was scheduled for 10 rounds in the Flyweight division with Yafai coming in 8 stone one and Moises coming in 8 stone 2 with Kieran McCann reffing.
Steady start by Yafa who grew into the and got some nice stylish combinations off winning the round with ease. Calleros started the second round well going to the body, Yafai stayed composed and banged in some nice combinations to the body and head showing great movement, winning the round. Yafai had to work hard in the third as Calleros pressed forward and banged shots to the body, Yafai picked his shots well as moved around the ring winning it. Yafai picked up the pace in the fourth letting off cracking combinations and putting Calleros down with a flurry of hooks and uppercuts, Colleros got to his feet but the ref called the fight off.
Dexter’s Thoughts
Great win for Yafai who made a statement for all the doubters after he was taken the distance in his last contest. It may have been a quick four-round finish, but Yafai showed patients, worked his way into the fight, and got a great stoppage. I can see if he continues winning him fighting for a world title by the end of next year, Matchroom is fast-tracking him and so they should as he has the potential to be the best of the Yafai Dynasty.
