BcB's Danny Ball has been given a shot at the vacant English Welterweight title on the undercard of the Lara verse Wood fight which will be streamed live on DAZN. Ball has an impressive record of 12 wins and 1 draw out of fourteen fights with his only defeat coming against the unbeaten Ekow Essuman when he was stopped in the sixth round in a 12-round contest which was for the British, Commonwealth, and the IBF European Welterweight titles in October of 2021. The draw on Ball’s record was when he took on the very talented Kaisee Benjamin for the Welterweight Midlands area title matching him over ten rounds with the boxing futurity split on who won this In March of 2019. After the Benjamin fight Balls next fight was against Mason Cartwright beating him in 3 rounds and winning the WBC International welterweight title in October of 2019.

His opponent Tomlinson also has a very impressive with fifteen wins out of sixteen fights with seven of his wins coming via knockout. His only defeat came in August of 2021 when he was stopped in the ninth round by Dante Jardon for the IBO Inter-continental Welterweight title. Tomlinson won the Central Area Welterweight title in August of 2018 stopping Jayce Dixon in the fourth round, he then went on and defended it against Kyle Fox in Nay of 2019 stopping him in 5 rounds.

Dexter’s Thoughts

Danny Ball has always been on the cusp of breaking into the big titles and has not been deterred from his defeat by Ekow Essuman. He is a very talented fighter and if he wins the English title this will set him up for contesting for British, Commonwealth, and even European titles. Ball is in one of the hardest divisions in boxing as the welterweight division has a hell of a lot of world-class fighters. I have always enjoyed watching Ball fight and have got a good feeling about him winning this fight and moving on to bigger titles. I look forward to watching him fight.
