Danny has a Ball Winning English Title

Twenty-six-year-old Danny Ball put on a clinical performance to win the English Welterweight title live on Dazn. His fight kicked off the main show with Mauricio Lara taking on Leigh Wood for the WBA World title as the main event in Manchester (27.5.23). Ball from Dudley and part of Black Country Boxing Promotions showed composer, great shot picking, and some heavy hands dropping his opponent in the second and his corner retiring him at the end of the eighth.

Ball and Robinson both weighed in at ten stone six With Reece Carter reffing this ten-round contest.

Cagey first round by both fighters as they sized each other up, Ball Winning it with his jab. The fight came to life in the second as both fighters started fast with Ball catching Robinson with a cracking left uppercut come hook dropping his opponent. Robinson got to his feet and was allowed to continue, he had to dig deep as Ball looked for the stoppage but Robinson managed to see the bell. Ball seemed to let Robinson off in the third and fourth as he kept it long and controlled the rounds but gave Robinson the chance to recover.

Robinson started the fifth round on the front foot pushing Ball back, but Ball kept his composure and landed nice combinations hurting Robinson to the body but did capitalize on it. Ball put some lovely combinations together going head and body well and looking in full control. Robinson had some joy finish the round strong but it was Balls round. Ball upped the pace in the seventh picking his shots well and looking relaxed, Robinson continued to press but not enough to win the round. The eighth was a controlled

Clinical performance by Ball who looked as fresh as he did in the first, with great movement and shot picking winning the round either ease.

Robinson’s corner pulled him out at the end of the eighth round

Dexter’s Thoughts

Absolutely chuffed to bits that Danny Ball has claimed the English Welterweight title, he is a talented fighter and the title was well deserved. It wasn’t just that he won the strap but the way he won it dominating every round and looking like he could do another eight rounds after the stoppage. This title will now set him up for bigger belts and I’m sure he has his eye on the British welterweight title and if he puts a performance on like this, I can see him doing it or even more.

The best thing about this performance is that he has done it on a big platform like DAZN which I'm sure will get other big promoters calling up Errol Johnson to get him on their shows. Congratulations to Danny Ball the New English Welterweight champion.
