Hot Prospect Troy Jones destined For Titles

Twenty-five-year-old Troy Jones has hit the professional boxing scene with a bang beating his first seven opponents after making his debut in September of 2021. The Orthodox fighter from Tamworth stands at six foot three and fights in the light Heavyweight division but informed me he will be contesting for titles at Super Middleweight.

Troy had two stints as an amateur with his stint at twelve not going well losing all of his seven fights. Troy told me “ I was too busy messing around as a kid, drinking and smoking”. He returned to the amateur ranks at nineteen, winning eleven out of fifteen contests. Jones who is trained by Lee Beard in Manchester has stopped four of his opponents in his seven fights so far and has power in both hands. Informed me he had been boxing since he was seven. He told me “My dad took me and my brothers to the boxing gym, I was always a fat lazy kid when I was younger it was only when I came back when I was nineteen that I took it seriously” I then asked Jones, what inspired you to take up boxing? Troy said, “I always enjoyed fighting as a kid so the two go hand in hand, boxing takes your mind away from anything and nothing else matters when you are training or fighting”.

We then chatted about his favorite boxers. He informed me “It all depends on which weight class we are talking about, I wouldn’t say I have a favorite, Gervonta Davies, Shakur Stevenson, Benavidez, and Beterbiev, there are too many at the top level”. My final question to this hard-hitting fighter was what has been your hardest fight? Jones recalled, “ As a professional, it maybe not my hardest but my fight out in Dubai against a very unorthodox fighter who was quite dangerous as he swung from nowhere and from the hips”.

Dexter’s Thoughts

I have seen Troy fight several times in his seven-fight career and have been impressed every time. Troy has power in both hands and also delivers an evil jab that everything comes off. He can put great combinations together and bangs in heavy shots to his opponent’s body that you can see hurt them. He has stopped four of his opponents so far which is a feat in itself as journeymen don’t like being stopped as they cannot fight for a month so these four stoppages are very impressive. Troy has heavy hands but is also a very talented boxer who can pick his shots well and hit the tight shots to drop his opponent. If he continues the way he is hoping I can defiantly see titles in his future and with his big following I can see a big promotion pick him up for some big fights. I look forward to seeing Troy fight again very soon.
