Matchroom Promotions are holding one of their big shows at the Utilita Arena Birmingham on the 19th of August. Headlining the Birmingham show you have Olympic gold medallist Gamal Yafai defending his WBC International Flyweight title against Tommy Frank in Yafai's fifth fight as a pro. At the point of writing, there are six fighters from Birmingham and the Black Country on the undercard. In a WBA International welterweight title fight you have Wolverhampton's Conah Walker who will be taking on Matchrooms hot prospect Cyrus Pattinson. Also on the undercard in an English Super Featherweight eliminator, ‘The Boxing Fan with a Licence’ Kane Baker rolledtheir the dice against Jordan Flynn in there second encounter. In the heavyweight division we have Warley’s ‘Real Deal’ Solomon Dacres, the six-foot fight twenty-nine-year-old opponent has yet to be named and will be looking to take his record to seven without defeat. From Coventry we have unbeaten Middleweight Aaron Bowen who has won both of his two fights, his opponent is yet to be named. We also have two debutants on the undercard from Birmingham and the Black Country, from Wolverhampton you have Sahil Khan, Khan had nine fights as an amateur winning six of them, his opponent is still to be named. The last boxer from Birmingham is the highly talented Ibraheem Sulaimaan, Suleimaan had five amateur contests and won the English National amateur title, his opponent is yet to be named.
Dexter’s Thoughts
Great to see Matchroom promotions back in Birmingham and they have some of Birmingham and the Black Country’s top fighters and hot prospects on the card and I expect the card to get bigger. It will be great to see the Matchroom boys Gamal Yafai and Dacres Solomon showcase their, talents in Birmingham, but for me, I’m looking forward to seeing Conah Walker and Kane Baker roll the dice in the away corners and with Birmingham behind them I can see wins for both of them. I am also looking forward to seeing what Ibraheem Sulaimaan is all about, I have been told by a number of people in the known who have said he is a future champion.
