Nico’s Debut Delayed

Saxon’s gyms Nico Ogbeide announced yesterday that his professional debut at the Hangar event Venue Wolverhampton has been canceled. He informed his soical media following that due to his medical not being cleared yet his license will not be ready for his debut on Friday 14th July so his fight has been cancelled.  Below is Nico’s statement as myself rewriting it would no do it justice.

“Hello to everyone who has followed my journey towards my first professional fight”.

“I have been training twice day , I have sacrificed certain foods with eating and drinking clean , along with spending a fortune on this camp”.

“I have been informed that my fight next week won’t be going ahead”.

“I am truly devastated beyond belief I really am”.

“The reasons for this is after my medical there was a delay on the process and it won’t be cleared in time for next Saturday ( nothing to do with myself and the team )

My time will come and I am devastated right now but I need to look forward to a new date and keep on pushing harder so when my time comes I’m extra ready”.

“I can not do anything to make this straight forward , myself and my team have tried everything possible to make sure I can fight next Saturday but it’s out of our hands now” .

“Everyone who has purchased a ticket thank you , you will all be given a full refund when your ticket is returned back to myself. Unless you still want to support the event”.

“I would like to say a massive thank you to my sponsors who have helped me to get to this point along with my team”.

“But a massive thank you to everyone who was ready to raw me on and give me my dream night at the Hanger”.

“I truly love every single one of you”

The story continues …….. Nico

Dexter’s Thoughts

Absolutely gutted for Nico as he has waited a long time to make his professional debut. I could tell when I interview him how determined he was to make a statement in his first fight so this will be a reversing blow. It was only a few days ago that I got off a bus in Sutton and saw him at his normal job as a Birmingham city council worker. We had a quick chat then and I could tell he was ready to put on a show on the fourteenth.

Nico says in his video which his statement was attached to that everything happens for a reason and I admire that he has put a brave face on it. He also told soical media that he will be staying in the gym ready to make his pro debut as soon as his medical is cleared and the Birmingham Boxing Column will be there to report on Nico’s debut.
