O'Hare Two Steps To A TKO Victory

Ballet dancer turned professional boxer Liam O’Hare shows style a grace as he two-stepped his way to a TKO victory at the Eastside Rooms Birmingham (30.07.23). Hereford’s O’Hare was on the undercard of the Black Country Boxing Promotions show and was fighting a six-three-minute round contest against CJ Wood in the Super Middleweight division. O'Hare (26) was coming into the contest with a record of five fights without defeat with his last contest being nearly a year ago back in July 2022 when he beat Octavian Gratii. CJ Wood (36) from Luton. O’Hare weighed in eleven stone eight with Wood coming in eleven stone seven with Ryan Churchill reffing.

Good competitive first round with O’Hare taking control in the second part of the round with great movement and nice shot picking. The second was a great battling round with both fighters getting good combinations off, O’Hare used his movement on the back foot to edge the round with a higher work rate.

Wood was the aggressor at the start of the third with O’Hare boxing nice on the back foot and banging in some cracking left and right hooks as Wood marched forward in another entertaining round. Wood continued to press with O’Hare stepping back and picking him off with nice shots. Wood was then caught coming in with a cracking left and right hook that wobbled him with O’Hare letting his hands go until the ref jumped in and stopped the fight one minute thirty-six seconds into the fourth round.

O’Hare wins fourth-round TKO

Dexter’s Thoughts

Fantastic performance by O’Hare against a very game opponent who brought the fight to the former Ballet Dancer. This seemed to bring the best out of O’Hare who boxed brilliantly on the back foot picking Wood off either some cracking shots and combinations. This was a very entertaining contest and O’Hare did not look like a fighter who had been out of the ring for almost a year. His movement was fantastic as he glided backward landing cracking shots. I really look forward to seeing this talented fight in the ring again,
