Frontline Promotions held their first Fight League shows of the year at the Matharus Supreme Suite. Unfortunately the Birmingham Boxing Column wasn't there, but promoter Matt Gough has given the column of a review and results of this packed out show.

He writes

As the dust settles from the weekends Fight Nights across the Midlands.. here we review the action from Friday nights explosive Fight League's 16th episode, ROYALTY II..

Matharus Supreme Suite's capacity crowd raised the roof as Frontline Combat Inc. Veterans, Champions and Newcomers alike entered the Jilted Royalty ring once again..

Dispatches..

Opening bout; Veteran Tony Deakin welcomed newcomer Govhan Sunder... experienced Deakin has his way in the first, drawing Sunder into a scrappy war, knocking the youngster off his game. After a scare in the second that saw Sunder on his back clutching his knee, the debut fighter meets Deakin in the middle of the ring for the remaining minutes of the bout taking a split decision victory, and a standing ovation for both fighters!..

Next, the Heavyweights.. Shaun Cheadle and Shaun Williams go toe to toe for the second time in a captivating big hitting bout.. Champion Williams pips the giant Cheadle on the judges scorecards to retain the title and on to a Midlands show down with the Destroyer, Shaun Duffy!..

The first of two semi final tournament bouts ends controversially as Adam Jennings and Gareth Van-hoof go to the judges score cards.. the fourth officials card is drawn to turn a majority draw into an overall win for Jennings, an infuriated Van-Hoof leaves the ring as Jennings advances to the final leaving only a rematch on the mind of everyone in attendance & more weight to the 'sudden victory round' argument..

In the second semi final a motivated Craig William Jones enters the ring against former champion Tobias O'Brien. Both fighters coming back from losses, it's the seemingly new and improved Jones that takes the win in a dominating 2nd round.. O'Brien leaves the ring after his performance head held high and clearly on his July bout with UK Champ Nicky Forrester with an exchange of words ringside..

Next up the return of the Gypsy Kidd Isaac Gibbs in a run at his staggering third Fight League title since its inception, Fight League rising Superstar Nathan Jennings has other plans taking the near 200 bout veteran to the judges scorecards and taking the unanimous win, your new Light Heavyweight Regional Title holder, Nathan Jennings..

Lance Bharj vs Josh Malpass, raising money for the leukaemia ward at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.. both fighters come out swinging with the more experienced & bigger Malpass knocking Bharj down twice before suffering a visibly blown ligament in his knee! Malpass continues with a new found respect for the tough and skilled Bharj who he'd previously openly underestimated.. referee Jimmy Byrne and Medical Staff at ringside see enough & despite argument force the valiant Malpass to his corner.. to a standing ovation Malpass limps to the centre of the ring to see a humbled Bharj's hand raised..

The Light Middleweight Regional Title next on the line as current Champion Andrew Bell squared off against Challenger Kester Jones.. in what was touted as the fight of the night both fighters show not only the ability to throw fast and powerful bombs but also take them, to the crowds delight.. challenger Jones takes the judges decision & crowned the new Light Middleweight Regional king..

The Tournament Final!.. Jones vs Jennings goes down in Fight League history as one of its greatest battles.. both fighters cement themselves as part of the games top flight super middleweights, leaving it all in the ring its Jones who's hand is raised on a split decision, not once but twice by his opponent who earns himself an immediate title shot!

The main event; Midlands Champion Mick MacDonald leaves the Heavyweight Division behind for his new home among the Cruisers, welcoming him is MMA & Boxing champion/veteran Lee Wheeler.. towering over McDonald, Wheeler wasted no time in utilising his range and connects with the previously dominant McDonald with hard and accurate shots at range.. McDonald showcases his new improved boxing style with slick footwork and up & down snapping shots before a textbook McDonald body shot finish!.. with a TKO win in his debut divisional bout the former dominant heavyweight calls for a shot at vacant regional gold!
