Crunch time at Lunch time BcB Round Up (31.7.23

Black Country Boxing Promotions held there final July show at the Eastside Rooms Birmingham (31.7.23). The consisted of eight fights with four of the over four three minute rounds, two over six three-minute rounds, and two female contests over six two-minute rounds. The Column has covered four of these contests already with a link below for you to read. In this report, we will be looking back at the four, four rounder’s and give you reports on how we saw the fights. In the four rounder’s coming out of the Home corner you had Andrew Robinson, Danny Williams, Ryan Hearst and Ameed Khalid, Referees on the nice were Chris Dean and Ryan Churchill.

Kicking off the show you had ‘D’Animal’ Andrew Robinson who is now back with his old trainer Anthony Hull from DnA gym. Thirty-eight-year-old Robinson was taking on the very game Steve Davies in a Light-Heavyweight contest. Robinson was coming off a very lack-luster performance last time out when he lost to Serge Ambomo on points in March of this year. Robinson who was having his thirty-eighth contest in his professional career was looking to get back to winning way with his DnA team back in his corner. Robinson weighed in twelve stone five with Davies coming in twelve stone two with Ryan Churchill reffing.

Robinson let his hands go from the start of the first round and landed some nice combinations with some eye-catching uppercuts, Davies was game and fought back but it was Robinsons' round. Davies came out fast in the second and landed some good shots which Robinson took well and then came back with big shots of his own. Robinson took the center of the ring in the third and controlled the round, Davies still fancied his chances but was just outworked by Robinson. Scrappy final round with Davies continuing to ask questions of Robinson who had the answers edging the final round.

Judge Chris Dean scored 40 to 36 to Robinson I had it the same.

Next on the card was Danny Williams who was having his third professional contest after winning his first two. Williams (34) from Hereford took on another very game journeyman in Liam Fox who is from Manchester. The contest was a Welterweight contest with Williams weighing in ten stone two and Fox coming in at ten stone with Chris Dean reffing.

Steady round by both fighters with both getting good shots off, Williams just edged it for me. Scrappy second round with this seeming to suit Fox who pressed Williams to the ropes and got some good shots off to win the round. Fox continued to press Williams back in the third who got some nice combinations off on the back foot, but I would have to give Fox a share of the round for shot output and work rate. Fox continued to press in the final round getting some eye-catching uppercuts off, Williams fought back hard but in my opinion, was outgunned by Fox.

Chris Dean Scored it 39 to 37 Williams I had it 39 to 38 Fox.

Up next was twenty-four-year-old Ryan Hearst who was having his third professional contest after winning his first two. The Leicester man was taking on the veteran Journeyman Paul Cummings in a Middleweight contest. Hearst weighed in at eleven stone with Cummings coming in at eleven stone five with Ryan Churchill reffing.

A fast start by Hearst who shot out some sharp hurtful combinations to Cummings head and body all Cummings could do was cover up and see the first round out. Hearst went to the head then the body well in the second with Cummings left rib cage raw red from the amount of punishment he was taking but again managed to see the round out. Hearst continued his good work but seemed to ease off in the third as Cummings got a few shots off, Hearst still won the road with ease. Hearst got back on it in the final round and banged in some hurtful shots to the body, Cummings again managed to see the round out.

Judge Chris Dean scored it 40 to 36 to Hearst, I had it the same.

Amee Khalid was the final four-rounder on the show, the twenty-six-year-old from Worcester was having a sixth professional contest after winning his first five. Khalid was taking on the experience Journeyman Jordan Ellison who was having his sixty-sixth contest of his career. The contest was in the super lightweight division with Khalid weighing in nine stone eleven and Ellison coming in at ten stone with Chris Dean reffing.

Good movement and nice jabs setting Khalid up to win the round with everything coming off a great jab. Khalid controlled the center of the ring in the second shooting out a sharp jab with some nice combinations, Ellison came back with some good shots of his own but it was Khalid's round. Great shot picking in the third by Khalid as he continued to shoot out the jab and started to mark up Ellison face. Nice flurry’s by Khalid in the final round who moved round the ring well picking nice shots and letting off cracking combinations to win the round and the fight.

Chris Dean scored it 40 to 36 Khalid I had it the same.

Dexter’s Thoughts

This was a cracking show and these were great fights to watch. It was great to see Robinson back with his DnA team and back to winning ways. He put on a great display winning every round against a very game opponent and looked like he still had some fuel in the tank at the grand old age of thirty-eight.

Danny Williams managed to get a win against another tough opponent who came to win, myself I thought his opponent had just edged it but ref Chris Dean saw it the other way which was the opinion Williams needed. Williams is entering the Top Boxing tournament, if he has any chance of winning that he will have to step up his fame on this performance.

Ryan Hearst was really impressed with his four-rounder banging in some hurtful combinations. You had to give Cummings credit for staying the course as his left rib cage was red raw at the end. Hearst looks like a very talented fighter and is one to watch out for.

Khalid showed great shot-picking and movement with everything coming off a sharp jab. He is looking like another talented boxer coming out of Black Country Boxing Promotions.
